HI, someone showed me how to do this before using freesoftware, which I downloaded and went through the process but the quality of the converted file wasnt really usable. so.....before I try this process, is there any loss of quality doing it this way

really appreciate you attempting you to show all us nubes how to do this! its such a good outreach tool.
right.....wihich version of vlc player do you have? cos the one I just downloaded doesnt have file at the top, like lukj60, it just says media, audio etc.
theres no wizard anywhere to be found. there is a convert/save but when I via this route I cant find the saved/converted file.
just wondering whether this a newer version of the vlc

I see now, there are lots of versions of the vlc, we obv have the latest. if you can see which you have, I can download that one instead and follow your steps.
