You are a poor student of history as Texas won independence via a revolution, one waged by American and Tejano immigrants that were tired of the oppression of tyrant who broke promises he had made to immigrants regarding land and religious freedom. If the Texas revolution was "invasion" as you ignorantly claim then you conveniently white wash Mexican "invasion" of what was a Spanish possession when they had their revolution in 1824.
You'll notice the ... ( 6 days ago by Speegs23)
You'll notice the Texans flew the flag of 1824 and not the stars & stripes because they were appealing to Mexico to be faithful to its constitution and not a blood lusting tyrant. You need to study history before you make hyperbole laden accusations.

Marty, forgot to mention my primo Col. Juan
Seguin. But looks like history has shown
that the gringo is always the hero.
Just remember that ... ( 4 days ago by carrvy1)
Just remember that the purpose and what ignited the Tejas revolution. Was all
because we the Gringo wanted slavery to
continue. Where Mexico had done away
with slavery.
Juan was a hero for ... ( 4 days ago by Speegs23)
Juan was a hero for certain, a survivor of the Alamo however as he was the last courier Travis dispatched.
Gringo? You just ... ( 4 days ago by Speegs23)
Gringo? You just took the time to point out Tejano heroics but are prepared to cast all historical injustices upon the white men? Come on now, be consistent.
And a hero he was ... ( 4 days ago by carrvy1)
And a hero he was and warned Sam Houston that
Santa Anna was on his way to attack the rebels. And your right plenty of injustices
by the settlers from the east. But the Mexican
government were no saints. I am glad it turned
out the way it did.
We must remember ... ( 4 days ago by carrvy1)
We must remember Juan led some of the troops
against Santa Anna in the battle of San Jacinto, prior to that he had been fighting
Mexican Government Injustices. He was promoted
by Sam Houston to the rank of Col.
In those day the ... ( 4 days ago by carrvy1)
In those day the settlers from the east were
seeking a better way of life. Just like the
settlers from the south are doing today they
are the one's that we refer to as illegal aliens. All I see are settlers seeking a
better way of life.

American Imperialism.
Americans came ... ( 3 days ago by Speegs23)
Americans came legally, they were solicited to come by the Mexican governemtn and promised land, then Santa Anna grew weary of the million plus American immigrants because they were not catholic and he changed the law saying only catholics could have land, that irked a great many of people.
Well, gues you ... ( 3 days ago by Speegs23)
Well, gues you better move to a less "imperial" country then, how about Eurpoe? Oh, wait they were all enslavers and conquest thirsty, whoops. Perhaps South America, oh wait they abolished slavery slower than the west and are still victim to a Jim Crow subculture in Brazil. How about Russia? Oh wait, they are history's biggest sabre rattler, Asia? Wait they've all tried to conquer each other. Moral of the story, man is fallen and is perpetually at war with one another for various causes.
What bothered Santa ... ( 3 days ago by carrvy1)
What bothered Santa Anna was that the farmers
of San Antonio didn't want to give up the slaves, since Mexico had abolished slavery
in 1829 and another thing they didn't want
to learn Spanish the language of Mexico.
The settlers of today are the one's that become the slaves, to the corporations and anybody that hires them. Most do learn English.
What our fore ... ( 3 days ago by carrvy1)
What our fore fathers fought for to break away
from the imperialism of England. We have taken
over England's conquering and setting up societies that serve our interests. And today
we are reliving the holy wars of yester year
which consists between Christians and Muslims
Alright most of ... ( 2 days ago by subreg123)
Alright most of your examples make sense except for south America, what does slavery have to do with imperialism?
That was an ... ( 2 days ago by Speegs23)
That was an expedient excuse, ultimately he didn't like the individualistic attitudes of the American immigrants just as the Civil War was not about slavery I assure you neither was the Texas Revolution.
Forgive me if my ... ( 2 days ago by Speegs23)
Forgive me if my reply came across argumentative, not my intent nor manner, the use of the word "imperial" suggests subjugation and servitude sometimes even conquest and genocide and there is not a population on earth that is innocent of this at some point in history so it is a futile exercise to look back at our ancestors and condemn them so sweepingly as if American sins are unique and transcend the context of their times. Truly since we too are fallen men we have erred.
It is a more ... ( 2 days ago by Speegs23)
It is a more fruitful exercise to learn from history, celebrate its triumphs and heed its lessons and fight with vigor against today's injustices which we plainly can engage instead of revising accounts we were not present to see and asserting labels to men outside the bounds of our own time and culture and circumstances and demanding they heed to 21st century sensibilities as if our standards are beyond rebuke, surely future generation will think themselves wiser and more civilized than us.
There were many ... ( 2 days ago by carrvy1)
There were many factors and slavery was just
one of the many. But we have to admit that
Hispanics were often mentioned in early history even in our school systems back in
the 40s and 50s. And the ballad of the Alamo
reflects the same attitude.
